Sermons on Community
I Need You to Invent Some Hope
Empire thrives on division and discord. Jesus calls us to build a world where things get better. James Baldwin said, “Hope is invented everyday.” That is exactly what Jesus calls us to do. We are not alone. When people gather, empire gets nervous.
Compassion Fuels Empathy
Remember your past. Use your experiences to fuel your empathy for others.
Look for the Happiness
Take time to make miracles for the little things.
It is Good to Be Seen
Jesus calls us to see those who aren’t seen by community. What child of God have we not responded to today? How can we welcome them and, in the process, make ourselves whole?
Keep the Faith
The cross is a symbol of power and a tool of persecution. Different perspectives. Life can be exhausting.
Is It Christian?
Some Christians make it hard to be Christian. Today, we are challenged to love each other, don’t hate, make room for others. Thanks be to God for Izzy, Luke, and Owen.
Exhausted and Overworked
Community takes work and can be overwhelming, but God is always present.
The Lord’s Supper
When you eat meals together you are with others. Jesus is with Judas, with Peter, with us. Let us join together and form a more loving world.
Participating in Resurrection
God calls us to participate in resurrection, helping others to be Easter people, too. Christ is indeed risen, and so are we. Jesus’ resurrection includes us.
